About

I had cause recently to revisit some old journals and to note how vital they have been to the development of my faith. From the early days, I have been curious and inquisitive about many things and intentionally slow to absorb some of the many ideas, even dogmas that easily take root in Christian faith contexts.

The church is probably unique in the sense that a captive audience consumes significant biblical ideas about life, as presented by a solitary speaker with little back and forth. In the writings that follow, I grapple with some of the things I have been taught, my own discoveries from within The Holy Scriptures and the teachings based thereupon. I am always particularly interested in the lived experience of the faithful, the thoughtful faithful, not the skeptic. Those reflective saints who say ‘but wait…’

As private journal entries, these writings are not theology. In some cases, they represent an attempt to make sense of theology through personal meditation and reflection.

It is probably the case, that something can be gained, by the sharing of the outcomes of these individual introspections. So that the ongoing record of personal insights and discoveries, and the comparison of notes from that process, brings mutual edification.
